Country Coordinating Mechanisms (CCMs) that took part in the CCM Evolution pilot have demonstrated an enhanced capacity to oversee grants and engage with other national structures and coordination platforms, according to a Secretariat report to the Board, at the Global Fund  Board meeting held on 14-15 November.

Behind the Global Fund's particularly utilitarian definition of CCMs ("Country Coordinating Mechanism") lies a very complex reality.

Indeed, the CCM concept is a radical shift from the traditional "donor/beneficiary" relationship. The anthropological concept of a "gift" provides insight into the origins of the unresolved tensions that generally exist between donor and recipient (Henkel and Stirrat, 1997).

Countries share experiences from CCM evolution pilot and EANNASO’s CCM Plus project

The Global Fund Board will decide on the future of the Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) Evolution project at the 42nd Board meeting to be held in mid-November. The decision will rely partly on the Global Fund CCM Hub’s findings from the CCM evolution pilot project, conducted in 18 countries for a year.
