A two-day meeting attended by civil society and community advocates, the Global Fund, technical partners and state representatives has equipped participants to more meaningfully engage in the implementation of Global Fund grants in the African region.
New fund to be launched to support meaningful engagement of adolescent girls and young women in Global Fund and national processes
The Global Fund will invest $500,000 over the next year to bolster meaningful engagement of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) groups and networks in Global Fund–related processes and in national processes in 13 focus countries. The funding will be made available to countries via a new venture, the HER Voice Fund, which is set to be launched later this month.
Since entering the New Funding Model (NFM) as an early applicant in 2013, Zimbabwe has been a unique case for Global Fund investments. The country submitted a single HIV concept note in April 2013 (before integrated HIV/TB concept notes were encouraged), was granted $311.2 million, and began implementation in January 2014.
