USAID’s Grant Management Solutions project (GMS), a major provider of Global Fund–related technical assistance (TA) is ending in September. The purpose of GMS is to improve the functioning of Global Fund grants – primarily through urgent, short-term TA – and thereby increase the effectiveness and efficiency of prevention, care and treatment interventions for HIV, TB and malaria.

Board approves $15 million for continuation of strategic investments in community, rights and gender over 2017-2019
The Global Fund will invest $15 million over the next three years (2017-2019) to bolster community responses, human rights and gender equality in its grants.
In March 2016, Georgia’s country coordinating mechanism established a policy, advisory, and advocacy council (PAAC) to assist the CCM with the transition of TB and HIV programs from The Global Fund to domestic resources. The terms of the reference of the PAAC, including its role, composition, and members’ responsibilities, were approved by the general assembly of the CCM.

Under its Community, Rights, and Gender special initiative, The Global Fund is providing technical assistance (TA) to assist a community-based organization, LGBT Georgia, to respond to an alarming increase in HIV incidence among men who have sex with men.
Access to essential medicines remains a challenge in most developing countries and is among the Millennium Development Goal targets. Over the past decade, international organizations including the Global Fund, the World Bank, USAID have invested in improving access to essential medicines.
