Funding approved for shortened HIV grant to Uganda

Funds will be used to purchase additional ARVs

On 3 August 2016, the Board approved additional funding of $37 million to ensure that all essential services for a shortened HIV grant to Uganda can be provided through to 31 December 2017. The money will come from the $700 million which the Fund has identified as being available for portfolio optimization. The Board was acting on recommendations of the Technical Review Panel (TRP) and the Grant Approvals Committee (GAC).


Funding of $164 million approved for 13 grants in 11 countries

Sierra Leone received $11 million in incentive funding for its HSS grant

In May 2016, the Global Fund Board approved $164 million in funding for 13 grants emanating from concept notes submitted by 11 countries. Of the $164 million, $114 million represented new money; the balance was existing funding that had been approved prior to the new funding model but was nevertheless included in the NFM allocations to countries.
